Oslo Architect Beilin: Barghouti is Not a Terrorist

Former leader of the leftist Meretz Party and former Labor Deputy Justice Minister Yossi Beilin has called on Israel to immediately release arch-terrorist Marwan Barghouti.

Barghouti is serving five life terms in an Israeli prison for his masterminding and involvement in deadly terror attacks against Israelis. He was one of several arch-terrorists whom Prime MInister Netanyahu insisted were left out of the recent deal to release abducted Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
“We made a big mistake not to release him on our own,” Beilin told Shalom Yerushalmi of the Israeli Ma’ariv newspaper. “Soon there will be presidential elections in the Palestinian Authority. Barghouti will be a candidate and will win, and then there will be international pressure on Israel to release the jailed president. Why do we need this? We could have released him now as part of the deal with Hamas and then he would not be portrayed as a collaborator.”
Beilin added, “Barghouti is a political leader, not a terrorist, even if he led others to use terror and was responsible for the second intifada.” He did not explain how a mass murderer can be considered a legitimate political leader.
Beilin was previously a member of both the Labor Party and the far-left Meretz party, which he headed between 2003 and 2006, during the period in which they were reduced to 5 Knesset seats.
He was the prime architect of the disastrous Oslo Accords, meeting PLO representatives in Oslo secretly until the outline of the plan was completed.
He also created the Geneva Initiative, which proposed that Israel give up the Temple Mount and much of eastern and northern Jerusalem. The initiative would commit Israel to the "right of return" to both the descendants of Arabs who fled Israel during the War of Independence and the countries in which they live. In addition, it would require Israel to release all PA Arab prisoners, including those convicted of murder.
It would also put third parties, among them the United Nations, the United States, the European Union, and Russia in charge of enforcing implementation of the plan.
The Geneva Initiative was publicized on December 1, 2003, after two years of secret planning, at a ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland. It has been widely rejected by Israelis and Arabs alike. PA leaders have said it is not good enough and rejected the clauses that would see Israel retain access to the Old City and the Mount of Olives cemetery in Jerusalem, would allow for some Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria to remain in exchange for land from within 1948 Israel, and would leave the PA state demilitarized.
In the Ma’ariv interview, Beilin rejected the argument that the Oslo Accords brought about the 2000 Oslo War, in which more than a 1,000 Israelis were killed as a result of terror attacks by Palestinian Authority-based terror groups.

“Yitzchak Rabin would have continued Oslo and reached a permanent agreement with [former PA Chairman] Yasser Arafat in 1999, but Yigal Amir came, assassinated Rabin and killed our way in the process,” Beilin said. This is a popular leftist belief which, of course, has no way of being proven.
Rabin expressed very strong doubts about the Oslo Accords and called Beilin by the derogatory nickname "Peres' poodle" in the early 1990s. Peres was then Rabin's political rival.
Beilin added, “The people who brought the terror attacks are the people who did not go Rabin’s way. The person who opened the big wave of terror attacks in the mid-nineties was Baruch Goldstein in the Cave of the Patriarchs. The extremists have done everything in their power to prevent Oslo. After Rabin’s assassination, Netanyahu won the election. He did not cancel Oslo but did not fulfill the agreement either,” blaming Israel rather than Arafat, for the Intifada.

Swedish Restaurant Serves Up Swastika

A Swedish fast-food restaurant dished out a made in China swastika tattoo in a meal for an eight-year-old, his parents said.
The restaurant in the northern city of Urnea distributed different tattoos in meals for customers, according to a Swedish news agency quoted by UPI.
"We couldn't believe our eyes," said Malin Hagglund, Eddie's mother. "I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Eddie is a huge fan of tattoos, but we thought this was a very strange tattoo for a child and that it was wrong of the shop to buy in this product."
The restaurant apologized for the incident and said that it had ordered tattoos from China, which apparently included one – or perhaps more – with a swastika.
In other swastika incidents, Virginia police said vandals painted a red swastika on tree.

AMSTERDAM - "De Kristallnacht was het toppunt van discriminatie, uitsluiting en onterechte vervolging. Vandaag de dag is hiervoor echter nog altijd waakzaamheid geboden", zei Eduard Nazarski, directeur van Amnesty International, gisteravond tijdens de herdenking van de Kristallnacht van november 1938, in Amsterdam.
"Het is vannacht (10 november 2009) precies 71 jaar geleden dat de nazi's in Duitsland synagogen in brand staken en winkels en woningen van joden vernielden. Jaarlijkse herdenking in Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM - Nabestaanden, hoogwaardigheidsbekleders en andere belangstellenden herdenken zondag tijdens de jaarlijkse Auschwitzherdenking in Amsterdam de gruweldaden van de nazi's tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Zij vertrokken om 11.00 uur vanaf het stadhuis in een stille tocht naar het spiegelmonument 'Nooit Meer Auschwitz' van Jan Wolkers in het Wertheimpark.
Minderwaardig
Daar zullen ze stil staan bij de moord op de joden, Roma, homoseksuelen en alle andere groepen die door de nazi's als ongewenst en minderwaardig werden beschouwd.
Onder anderen de Amsterdamse burgemeester Job Cohen, staatssecretaris Jet Bussemaker (Volksgezondheid), voorzitter van de Tweede Kamer Gerdi Verbeet en de ambassadeurs van onder meer de Verenigde Staten, Israël, Oostenrijk, Polen en Duitsland zijn bij de bijeenkomst aanwezig.
Ultieme kwaad
"Auschwitz staat voor het ultieme kwaad dat mensen elkaar kunnen aandoen", zei Cohen in zijn toespraak. "De ontmenselijking van de ander, de systematische vernietiging van een groep op basis van ras, geloof en geaardheid."
"We leven nu in een andere tijd, maar angst en wantrouwen jegens de ander zijn sindsdien niet zo groot geweest", verwees de burgemeester naar de huidige spanningen tussen bevolkingsgroepen in Nederland. "Angst en wantrouwen brengen mensen ertoe zich terug te trekken in de eigen groep, met uitsluiting van anderen. En waar dat in uiterste instantie toe kan leiden, is precies wat ons vandaag bijeenbrengt."
Tijdens een besloten lunch na afloop van de herdenking sprak Tweede Kamervoorzitter Gerdi Verbeet over haar bezoek aan Auschwitz enkele jaren geleden. "We hebben zo veel foto's gezien, zo veel verhalen gehoord. Maar zelf zien is totaal anders. Het trof me recht tussen de ogen."
De Verenigde Naties besloten drie jaar geleden 27 januari als Holocaust Memorial Day aan te merken. In Nederland herdenkt het Auschwitz Comité de misdaden van de nazi's al tientallen jaren op de zondag die het dichtst bij die datum ligt.
De bevrijding van het vernietigingskamp Auschwitz vond plaats op 27 januari 1945. Tussen juli 1942 en september 1944 werden meer dan 107.000 joden gedeporteerd uit Nederland. Slechts 5200 van hen overleefden de concentratiekampen en keerden terug.

(IsraelNN.com) Het Joods Agentschap waarschuwt dat er een forse toename is van anti-joodse incidenten. Deze waarschuwing volgt na de moord op een jonge joodse man afgelopen zaterdag in St. Petersburg, Rusland.
Amos Hermon, die namens het Joods Agentschap verantwoordelijk is voor het bestrijden van deze anti-semitische aanslagen, vertelt dat Russische Bronnen te kennen geven dat zij weten van meer dan 50.000 skinheads in Rusland en de Oekraïne die slachtoffers maken onder vreemdelingen en in het bijzonder onder de joodse bevolking.
