Flotilla Gaza: De missie was niet het leveren van humanitaire hulpgoederen, maar het provoceren van Israel

De waarheid over wat er gebeurd is aan boord van het ‘vredesschip’ de Mavi Marmara van de “Free Gaza Movement, is inmiddels aardig duidelijk geworden. Diverse video opnames tonen aan dat de door Turkije geleidde ‘vrijheidsvloot’ niets anders is geweest dan een schandalige provocatie aan het adres van Israel. Het blijkt dat de Israelische militairen in een eerste poging het schip te enteren, meteen werden aangevallen toen ze nog aan het touw van de helikopters hingen. Het verhaal dat de militairen al vanaf dat moment met schieten zouden zijn begonnen zoals door de activisten wordt beweerd, is tot nu toe geen enkel bewijs geleverd. Drie gewonde, murw en bewusteloos geslagen soldaten, werden zelfs een tijdlang opgesloten in een kajuit. Zij werden pas door medesoldaten gevonden en bevrijd toen ze het schip begonnen te doorzoeken. Israelische militairen vertelden dat zij volledig werden verrast door het niveau van geweld. Pas nadat de troepen zich realiseerden dat ze onder een levensbedreigende aanval waren hebben ze toestemming gevraagd om hun handwapens te gebruiken uit zelfverdediging. Typisch op pro-Palestijnse websites is dat men daar de film achterstevoren afspeelt... Eerst laat men Israelische soldaten zien die met getrokken vuurwapens over het schip rennen en helemaal op het einde laat men dan activisten zien die de soldaten te lijf gaan met stalen pijpen, knuppels, messen en bijlen. De ongeveer vijftig activisten op de Mavi Marmara waren zelfs opgeleid voor man-tegen-mangevechten en hadden een hinderlaag gepland en opgezet.
Deze ‘vredesactivist poseert voor de camera’s aan boord van de Mavi Marmara enkele uren voor de confrontatie met het Israelische leger.
De activisten beweerden dat ze lagen te bidden en anderen rustig te slapen toen ze plotseling door de Israelische militairen werden overvallen. De hele operatie was niets anders dan een geplande agressieve provocatie tegen Israel. De internationale media en in het kielzog weer een hele schare diplomaten, steunden de Islamitische propagandamachine door de legale Israelische actie te veroordelen. Het internationale persagentschap Reuters is opnieuw betrapt op het bewerken van foto’s van de activisten op de Mavi Marmara. Tijdens de oorlog tussen Israel en de Libanese terreurbeweging Hezbollah in 2006, publiceerde Reuters ook vervalste foto’s die toen wereldwijd door de media zijn overgenomen. Israel heeft opnieuw een aanval van wereldwijde hypocrisie te verduren gekregen. Diverse hypocriete wereldleiders eisten ogenblikkelijk na de gebeurtenis een uitgebreid onderzoek. Allemaal weten ze, of kunnen ze weten, dat Israel wekelijks ruim 500 vrachtwagens met goederen naar Gaza stuurt, maar ze blijven tegen beter weten in, de smerige leugens verdedigen dat Israel de bevolking van Gaza uithongert. Een aantal van de 679 ‘vredesactivisten’ hadden vooraf openlijk verklaard als martelaar te willen sterven en daarom doelbewust geweld te zullen uitlokken. Ze zongen vooraf aan boord liederen hoe ze de Joden gingen uitroeien (gefilmd door Al-Jazeera). Ze hoopten als martelaar voor Allah te mogen sterven, zoals familie van drie van hen heeft verteld aan Turkse en Palestijnse kranten. Dat is dus negen van hen gelukt. De jongste passagier was een jongen van 1 jaar en ook waren er ouderen van boven de 80 aan boord. Uitermate geschikt om eventueel als menselijk schild te gebruiken.
Gedurende de reis naar Gaza werd aan boord een strikt militaristisch bewind gevoerd. De groep stond onder bevel van de door de Turkse regering gesponsorde extremistische Islamitische terreurorganisatie Insani Yardim Vakfi (IHH),een radicaal Islamitische organisatie gelieerd aan de Moslim Broederschap. Deze terreurclub is voorstander van het gebruik van geweld tegen Israel, en heeft haar basis in Turkije, Bosnië en Bulgarije en door de CIA op de terreurlijst is geplaatst. Volgens passagiers zouden zich meer dan 100 leden van diverse terreurorganisaties aan boord van de Mira Marmara hebben bevonden, en zouden zij de andere passagiers gedwongen hebben om hen te gehoorzamen en te verklaren dat zij allen leden waren van de IHH. Onder de arrestanten bevonden zich twee Nederlanders waaronder Amin Abou Rashed, een kopstuk van Hamas en Anne de Jong.

Beiden riepen tijdens een persconferentie de politieke partijen in Nederland op om zich duidelijk tegen de Israelische aanval uit te spreken. De van oorsprong Palestijnse Rashed opereert vanuit Rotterdam. Hij wordt aangewezen als een van de organisatoren achter de ‘terreurvloot’. Hij werkte voor de beruchte Nederlandse stichting Al-Aksa. Rashed is genoemd in relatie tot de Holy land Foundation, een beruchte liefdadigheidsorganisatie die in Amerika werd opgerold voor het financieren van Hamas. Hamas wordt gefinancierd door islamitische ‘liefdadigheidsinstellingen‘ over de hele wereld.
Anne de Jong deed op vrijdag 4 juni 2009 haar verhaal bij Knevel en Van den Brink en verdedigde daar het geweld van haar ‘maatjes’ tegen de Israelische militairen. Zij noemde de terreurbeweging Hamas een legitieme politieke beweging. Hoe verblind kan een mens zijn! Hamas is een genocidale, gewelddadige organisatie, die zich ten doel heeft gesteld de staat Israel te vernietigen. Volgens haar hadden alle deelnemers vreedzame bedoelingen. Eenmaal opgepakt door het Israelische leger bleken een groep van 40 extremisten geen identiteitspapieren bij zich te hebben. Wel waren bijna alle leden van de groep uitgerust met kogelvrije vesten, nachtkijkers en een envelop met daarin enkele duizenden dollars.
Israel hoeft zich op geen enkele manier te verontschuldigen voor deze actie en heeft gehandeld zoals ieder ander land gehandeld zou hebben. Tijdens geheime telefoongesprekken vroeg Barack Hoessein Obama aan de Israelische premier Benjamin Netanjahoe om alle ‘passagiers’ zonder uitstel op vrije voeren te stellen evenals de zes schepen die aan de ketting in Ashdod lagen. Hij steunde de oproep van de VN-Veiligheidsraad voor “een geloofwaardig, onpartijdig en transparant onderzoek” van de gebeurtenissen. Maar sinds wanneer voldoet de VN aan deze voorwaarden? Wanneer de VN bij een dergelijk onderzoek betrokken raakt, is op voorhand duidelijk wie als schuldige zal worden aangewezen. Het leugenachtige Goldstone rapport over de oorlog tegen Hamas in januari 2009, is daar een voorbeeld van. Dit rapport was één lange aanklacht tegen de Joodse staat en niets anders dan een gigantische rechterlijke dwaling. De beschuldigingen in het rapport komen er op neer dat Israel de hoofdschuldige is en de Palestijnen en hun Hamas terreurregering, het slachtoffer.
Zo’n 10.000 Turken schreeuwden bij het Israelische consulaat in Istanbul om wraak voor de negen doden die vielen tijdens de legale commandoactie van het Israelische leger op de pro-Hamas ‘vrijheidsvloot’. ‘Verdoem Israel! Moordenaars, jullie zullen verdrinken in bloed!’ Ook waren er oproepen te horen om alle Joden af te slachten.
Een van de sprekers vroeg de hele Arabische wereld de vredesbesprekingen met Israel niet meer te steunen. ‘We krijgen Palestina niet terug met vredesbesprekingen, maar alleen met Jihad en met gevechten’. http://nos.nl/
De extremistische Turkse leider Erdogan heeft er bewust voor gekozen de crisis met Israel op de spits te drijven. In Ankara zei hij “Als Amerika Israel niet straft voor het vertrappen van de menselijke eer, dan doen wij het wel”. Dat zijn uitspraken van een leider die in het zuidoosten van zijn land de Koerdische bevolking met alle middelen bestrijd. Opstanden van de Koerden worden door de Turken met harde hand de kop in gedrukt. Erdogan schroomt daarbij niet hele dorpen van de Koerden met de grond gelijk te maken. Bij de gevechten tussen de Koerdische PKK en het Turkse leger zijn al meer dan tienduizend doden gevallen en meer dan drieduizend dorpen van de kaart geveegd. En deze man komt met de meest smerige beschuldigingen en schandalige provocaties aan het adres van Israel. Inmiddels speelt Erdogan met de geachte om bij toekomstige ‘hulpkonvooien’. Turkse gevechtsvliegtuigen en schepen van de marine in te zetten om deze te beschermen tegen Israelisch ingrijpen. De voormalige Israelische generaal Uzi Dayan zei voor de militaire radio dat wanneer Turkije daar inderdaad toe mocht besluiten, dat door Israel als een oorlogsverklaring moet worden opgevat. Erdogan zou ná het enteren van de Mavi Marmara door de Israëlische troepen, van plan zijn geweest een militaire actie tegen Israel te ondernemen. Dat zou echter maar nét door Amerika en Frankrijk zijn voorkomen.
Erdogan lijkt bewust op zoek naar een confrontatie met Israel waarbij hij het uitbreken van een oorlog kennelijk niet schuwt. Via de media is bekend gemaakt dat Erdogan miljoenen dollars uittrekt om de Turks-Islamitische terreurorganisatie IHH te voorzien van 8 tot 10 schepen, om Israel zodoende opnieuw te provoceren. In Jeruzalem worden de beschuldigingen van Erdogan ongegrond en als een ongerechtvaardigde aanval geacht. Alles wijst erop dat Erdogan heel bewust met terroristen is zee is gegaan waaronder figuren van al-Qaeda. http://www.israeltoday.co.il/default.aspx?tabid=178&nid=21215 Turkije lijkt inmiddels te worden bestuurd door extremisten. Erdogan houdt zijn troepen gereed op Cyprus om van daaruit Israel aan te vallen indien het tot een gewapend conflict mocht komen. Deze moslimextremist wordt door de Nederlandse premier Balkenende een respectvolle, eerbiedwaardige man genoemd.
De Iraanse demagoog Mahmoud Ahmadinejad noemde de Israelische commando’s “wilde honden” en riep de Veiligheidsraad van de VN op “de misdaden van Zionisten ogenblikkelijk op de agenda te zetten en hun handen af te hakken voor het plegen van misdaden.” Ook dreigde hij Israel opnieuw met de totale verwoesting voor elke maatregel die zij ergens in de wereld zouden willen nemen. Hij zei bereid te zijn oorlogschepen in te zetten om de blokkade van Gaza te doorbreken. Onder internationaal recht heeft Israel het recht haar burgers te beschermen tegen terreuraanvallen van Hamas, hoewel de wereld daar kennelijk een andere menig op na houdt. Maritieme blokkades zijn een legitieme en erkende maatregel krachtens het internationale recht, en mogen worden uitgevoerd als onderdeel van een gewapend conflict op zee, wat tussen Israel en Hamas bestaat. Elk vaartuig dat de maritieme blokkade schendt is of probeert te schenden mag worden aangevallen. Greta Berlin, een van woordvoerders vertelde op 27 Mei: "de missie is niet het leveren van humanitaire hulpgoederen, maar het breken van de Israelische blokkade”. Zij zei te weten dat hun actie illegaal was.
Een lezer van mijn nieuwsbrief ontving een mailtje uit Israel van een paar kennissen waarin zij schrijven dat ze zich aan het voorbereiden zijn op een uitgebreide oorlog deze zomer. Zij zeggen dat velen in Israel voelen dat er iets staat te gebeuren en zich niet willen laten verrassen. Ze zijn voedsel en allerhande hulpgoederen aan het inslaan om voorbereid te zijn op de dingen die komen gaan.

Moslims (met name uit de regio 'Midden Oosten') willen hier nooit over praten, maar dat betekend niet dat er niet iets duidelijk herkenbaars als ' zinloos geweld tegen weerloze burgers gebruikt is'! De UN bestond nog niet om tussenbeide te treden...

"Weeks of miscalculations set activists on a Turkish boat and Israeli commandos on a collision course."
The crack of an Israeli sound grenade and a hail of rubber bullets from above were supposed to disperse activists, but instead set them in motion. And when three Israeli commandos slid down ropes out of helicopters to take over the ship, a crowd set upon them.
“They ran at them without pause or hesitation,” Dr. Coskun recalled.
One soldier was stabbed and two were beaten. From that moment on, the attempted takeover turned into an armed assault, with angry Israeli commandos opening fire. Within an hour, the commandos had taken control of the ship, and nine Turks, including one who also had American citizenship, were dead.
Dozens of interviews in Israel and Turkey suggest that Israel’s decision to stop the flotilla at all costs collided with the intention of a small group of Islamic activists from Turkey, turning a raid on a ship of protesters in international waters into a bloodbath — and a major international event.
The activists had set sail precisely in hopes of forcing the world to focus on Israel’s blockade of Gaza, something they had sought in vain in the past. This time they succeeded.
The deaths at sea on Monday have created a diplomatic fiasco for Israel. Its assault has been fiercely condemned around the world and ruptured relations with its closest Muslim ally, Turkey. The Obama administration has watched as the ties between its two closest regional allies have unraveled. Meanwhile, the Palestinians of Gaza, often neglected in Middle East peace talks, have taken on new importance.
Israel, increasingly on the defensive over its policy toward the Palestinians, understood that it faced a public relations battle it could not win: its military could easily stop the boats, but if civilians were harmed, it would be blamed. The Israelis believed that letting the flotilla through would open a new military corridor to Gaza, run by Hamas, that would include weapons and militants.
“We knew they were looking for a confrontation,” a senior military official said, speaking under military rules of anonymity. “We tried to make sure force was the last option. But we were not going to let them pass.”
For the past three years, in an effort to squeeze Hamas, which seeks Israel’s destruction, Israel has banned all but basic humanitarian aid and food from entering Gaza.
Israeli diplomats tried to persuade Turkish and other governments to stop the flotilla, while the military planned an operation if necessary.
Maj. Gen. Eitan Dangot, the Israeli who oversees civilian Palestinian issues in the West Bank and Gaza, met with the Turkish ambassador in Tel Aviv. But he was told the Turkish government could do nothing because the boat was sailing under the auspices of a private group.
A Turkish official said a discussion of the issue with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was expected in Washington this week, but the raid occurred before the meeting could take place. Turkey’s prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has been one of the world’s most vocal opponents of the blockade of Gaza, and though he did not support the flotilla directly, he did not work very hard to stop it.
In Israel, ideas on how to halt the boats — sabotage of propellers or engines, the use of ropes or chains — were examined, military officials say, but all were rejected as dangerous or impractical. Disabling a huge boat like the Mavi Marmara could lead to its sinking or to days of towing it to shore.
The best option, they asserted, was a takeover of the command of the boats, something Israel had done a year ago during an attempt by a smaller vessel. This time, though, because the lead boat was so large, the Israelis would have to descend by helicopter rather than approaching only by sea, costing them the element of surprise. Some American naval experts interviewed agreed that as long as Israel insisted on stopping the Mavi Marmara, its best option was a takeover.
But Israel, committed to enforcing a blockade, did not consider alternatives like searching the cargo before unloading it in Gaza — a decision that has prompted criticism that Israel was too quick to choose confrontation and fell into a trap set by the activists.
Israel’s inner cabinet of seven ministers approved the plan and the Israeli Navy Seal units began training for what they expected to be passive resistance. “We had in mind a sit-down, a linking of arms,” a military spokesman said.
That the military was expecting mainly passive resistance is being seen in Israel as an intelligence failure. It could be viewed as a strange assumption given that Israel’s defense minister, Ehud Barak, later characterized the Turkish group as a dangerous Islamic organization with terrorist links — a charge the organization rejects.

O.a. dat deze 'vredes-activisten' drie soldaten hadden gekneveld en vastgebonden om mee te nemen naar Gaza wrs. Gilad Shalit (ook te lezen op dit webblog) zit al een aantal jaren gevangen in de Gazastrook en daar hadden deze drie mannen 'een welkome aanvulling op geweest ? ' Misschien is het wel een beetje cynisch gesteld zo, maar waarom dan drie soldaten kidnappen aan boord en dan boos worden dat de IDF reageert en de situatie onder controle heeft weten te krijgen ? Het is meer als logisch dat je jezelf probeert te redden uit zo'n crisissituatie.

An internal IDF review of the takeover of the Gaza-bound ship
Mavi Marmara revealed that three soldiers were briefly kidnapped while aboard the vessel. The three were beaten when they boarded the ship and then, when they were wounded and groggy, were dragged to a room within the ship and held there.A short time later, dozens of their fellow soldiers began searching the ship. When the passengers saw that soldiers had successfully seized control of the Marmara, they released the three captives, the report stated.
The captive soldiers had recovered from their initial disorientation during their time below deck, and once released hurried to join their unit.
IDF commanders reacted to the report with concern. As similar ships continue to make their way to Gaza, there could be a situation in which a soldier is held captive in order to give passengers a bargaining chip, they said.
Reuters has published an eyewitness account that backs the IDF report. Andre Abu Khalil, a Lebanese cameraman for the pan-Arab Al-Jazeera network, was aboard the Mavi Marmara as IDF soldiers boarded. He told Reuters that four soldiers who were among the first aboard were injured and were taken below deck.
A second wave of troops then attempted to board, he said. “Twenty Turkish men formed a human shield to prevent the Israeli soldiers from scaling the ship. They had slingshots, water pipes and sticks,” he recalled. After a brief standoff, the Israelis opened fire, he claimed.
IDF troops say they opened fire only after being attacked when the boarded the ship.
A second passenger who spoke to Reuters admitted that passengers on the ship had seized soldiers' weapons before shooting broke out. He denied that the passengers had then tried to turn the guns on the soldiers.

"Three of the four Turks killed in the Israeli attack on the "Freedom Flotilla" bound for the Gaza Strip wanted to die as Martyrs, said their relatives and friends. The wife of one of them, Ali Haydar Bengi, told the Vatan daily: "He used to help the poor and the oppressed. For years, he wanted to go to Palestine. And he constantly prayed to Allah to grant him Shahada (Martyrdom).
The names of the Turkish nationals killed in Monday's attack have not been officially released, but the Turkish media identified them yesterday as four men who were involved in Islamic movements or Islamic NGO's...
Ali worked at telephone repair shop in Diyarbakir, the largest city in south-eastern Turkey. Sabir Ceylan, a friend of Ali, told the Milliyet newspaper: 'Before embarking on this journey [to Gaza], he said he desired to become a Martyr. He had a strong desire to die as a Martyr.'
Another Turkish victim was Ali Ekber Yaratilmis, a 55-year old pensioner. He was a father of five who lived in Ankara. Ali volunteered for the Turkish Aid and Human Rights Organization [IHH], which transfers aid to Gaza. A friend, Mehmet Faruk Cevher, told the Sabah daily that [Ali] 'devoted his life to charity work, that's why he went to Gaza. He always wanted to become a Martyr.'
The third victim was Ibrahim Bilgen, a 61-year old pensioner and father of six sons. He was a supporter of the Felicity Party, an Islamic movement in the south-eastern city of Siirt, Anatolia news agency reported. His brother-in-law, Nuri Mergen, told the Agency: 'He was an exemplary man and a truly good man. That's why he was truly worthy of Shahada (Martyrdom). Allah granted him the death that he wished for.'"

De Turkse organisatie Insani Yardim Vakfi of IHH die meevoer op een van de schepen in het konvooi voor Gaza, heeft banden met terroristische organisaties zoals Al-Qaida. Dat blijkt uit onderzoek van het Deense Institute for International Studies uit 2006: ‘The Role of Islamic Charities in International Terrorist Recruitment and Financing’.
Bij een inval door de Turkse veiligheidsdienst in een IHH kantoor in Istanboel werden wapens, explosieven en een jihadvlag aangetroffen. IHH leider Bülent Yildirim was betrokken bij het rekruteren van jihadi’s.
Uit aftappen van de IHH telefoon in 1996 bleken herhaaldelijke telefonische contacten naar een Al-Qaida verblijf in Milaan en met Algerijnse terroristen in Europa. Ook waren er in 2000 telefonische contacten met Al-Qaida lid Ahmed Ressam die van plan was tijdens de milenniumwisseling een aanslag te plegen op het vliegveld van, Los Angeles.
Uit informatie van Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center (ITIC) blijkt dat IHH logistieke en financiële steun verleent aan jihadistische netwerken in Bosnië, Syrië, Irak, Afghanistan en Tsjetsjenië.
IDF Photos of Knives Contradict Turkish Claims of ’No Weapons’

IDF photos of two dozen knives, including a machete, plus clubs, chains and metal rods used against Israeli Navy commandoes in the flotilla clash Monday contradict Turkish claims that the passengers did not carry weapons on board.
“Customs officials at the Port of Antalya have denied Israeli claims that weapons were detected on a ship taking humanitarian aid to Gaza that took off from Antalya on Sunday,” the Turkish news site Today’s Zaman reported. 
It quoted a customs official as stating, “Forty-two passengers boarded in Istanbul and 504 passengers got on the ship here. They were screened. We spotted no weapons and there is no such record in our logs. We did not notice anything suspicious about the Mavi Marmara. Had our officers had any suspicions, they would have reported it.”
The IDF confiscated and photographed the weapons, which were used to brutally attack Navy commandoes as they descended to one of the ships via ropes from hovering helicopters, intending to take over the ships peacefully. Greta Berlin, spokeswoman for the Free Gaza movement, claimed to Israel National News that the IDF edited the video showing the commandoes landing on board and added the violence.
Concerning the weapons, she told Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, "I will venture to say that Israel is lying about this because the weapons that I saw coming on board this morning belonged to Israel. If there were weapons, they planted those weapons."

One of the Naval Special Forces commandos who sustained a broken arm while under attack by the S.S. Mavi Marmaris’ passengers, reports, “Each soldier who descended was grabbed by three or four men and they simply exploded, beating him up. They lynched us.
“They had metal clubs, knives, slingshots, glass bottles…At one point there was also live fire.
“I was among the last to descend, and I saw that the group was dispersed, everyone in his own corner surrounded by three or four men. I saw a soldier on the floor with two men beating him. I peeled them off of him and they came at me and began beating me with the clubs.
“That’s how I broke my arm. At that moment I had no weapon in my hands, like everyone else who descended on the cables empty-handed. My paintball gun was behind me.
Two More Boats on Their Way to Gaza

IDF General Staff Operations Commander Col. Itzik Turjeman told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Tuesday that two additional ships of the militant left flotilla are on their way to Gaza. He said they will be stopped as well.

MK Tzachi HaNegbi (Kadima), Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, opened the session with these remarks:
“After Operation Cast Lead, the government decided to impose a maritime blockade on Gaza [in accordance with international law governing parties in a state of armed conflict – ed.], and that all cargo headed for Gaza would be checked first in the Ashdod port… This issue is a matter of total consensus in Israel, and the reason is the sense of injustice that we all feel, the cynicism and hypocrisy that typify the attack on the State of Israel, and the sense we all have that the IDF’s operation yesterday was logical and ethical. We left Gaza five years ago, yet for years we have been attacked from Gaza, and our soldier Gilad Shalit is still being held in a dark dungeon in Gaza. We therefore feel that we have the right to act in the way we did.”
HaNegbi added that many questions remain open in terms of the operation, the intelligence that preceded it, and the PR efforts after it, “and we will insist on investigating these matters and receiving answers.”
Several terror activists wounded on the Marmaris ship early Tuesday morning are hospitalized in several hospitals throughout Israel. Each of them is guarded by a military policeman, ensuring that he not try to escape or give media interviews.
Dozens of others who were arrested after being taken off the ships are being questioned. Among them is Sheikh Ra'ad Salah, head of the Northern Branch of the extremist Islamic Movement in Israel. He was originally thought to have been injured on the boat, leading to Israeli-Arab rioting and much media speculation, but he is now known to be safe and sound.
Arab MK Hanin Zouabi (Balad), a rookie female MK from Nazareth, was on board the ship as well, but was released straight home because of her parliamentary immunity - infuriating some Knesset Members. MK Aryeh Bibi (Kadima) said, “Our democracy has lost its direction. We’ve reached the point where Arab citizens and MKs do whatever they wish. Zouabi’s parliamentary immunity must be removed and she should be arrested. I’d like to see her try similar protests in Arab countries… let her join the Hamas regime in Gaza.”
MK Danny Danon (Likud) said, “Zouabi and her Hamas friends boarded this flotilla as shahids [martyrs] who said that they knew that they might die in the course of harming IDF soldiers. Instead of making peace, Zouabi started war on board the ship. Terror activists like her must not be permitted to return to the Knesset.” Zouabi was recorded shouting for help in English and Hebrew when the IDF boarded the ship on which she sailed.

Participants Write Their Wills
At a press conference in Antalya, Turkey, the flotilla organizers asked all the participants to "write their wills." Following the press conference, Kuwaiti Salafist MP Walid Al-Tabtabai reportedly "did not hesitate to write his will, in defiance of the Israeli threats."

The father of Kuwaiti activist Abd Al-Rahman Al-Filkawi told the Kuwaiti Al-Watan daily that his son had told him that the flotilla participants' morale was high, and that they "would sacrifice themselves for the sake of Allah. He added that his son had "told them before embarking that he would be a martyr for the sake of Allah."The next day, the father told a press conference: "My son Abd Al-Rahman came to me and said: 'Reckon my sacrifice [of my life] in anticipation of the reward of Allah' and I did so. Then he went to his mother and she reckoned his sacrifice in anticipation of the reward of Allah. If he dies there [with the flotilla], he dies as a martyr [with the predetermined aim of becoming one]."
Similarly, the son of Kuwaiti activist and attorney Mubarak Al-Mutawa said: "Since he was little, my father hoped to become a martyr for the sake of Allah." Al-Mutawa's wife related that on the day of his departure, her husband had gathered their children together to tell them about martyrdom and jihad, and that he bade them farewell by saying: "If I am martyred during my voyage, do not be sad. I will be in Paradise, because I am going to wage jihad for the sake of Allah."
Also, on the various Internet forums, it was reported that the mother of one of the Turkish participants had said that her son had bade her farewell and told her that he was going to lay down his life.
