The Simon Wiesenthal Center condemned the ongoing mortar and rocket barrage into 
Southern Israel which included the missile attack on a school bus that severely wounded the driver and a 13-year old passenger.
"No nation can accept a status quo where terrorists continuously target civilian communities and the world expects the victim to do nothing. Israel today finds itself in that position where as a result of the UN’s Goldstone Report, it is demonized as guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity for attempting to defend her citizens from terrorist attacks, such as todays. This is an intolerable situation that must change," said Rabbis Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper, dean and founder and associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center.

Judge Richard Goldstone will not retract his anti-Israel report on alleged IDF war crimes, despite his admission that Israel did not intentionally attack civilians. The retired judge headed the U.N. Human Rights Council panel that damned Israel and barely mentioned Hamas in its investigation of Israel’s counterterrorist Operation Cast Lead defensive campaign two years ago.
He told the Associated Press that he was misquoted by Interior Minister Eli Yishai, who said in a telephone call that Goldstone would retract the report. The conversation was held through an interpreter, and a spokesman for the minister said that there was a lack of clarity in Yishai’s statement to reporters.
Israel and most Jewish leaders in the Diaspora castigated Goldstone for his 2009 report that Israel intentionally attacked Gaza civilians, many of whom Hamas terrorists used as human shields while attacking Israel with thousands of missiles and mortar shells. He wrote in The Washington Post last week that he was wrong but told AP, “I have no reason to believe any part of the report needs to be reconsidered at this time." He added that “further information as a result of domestic investigations could lead to further reconsideration.”
A South African Jewish leader wrote in The Johannesburg Times that Goldstone’s "mea culpa” was not an expression of being pro-Israel. On the contrary, Victor Gordon, Chairman of the Pretoria Council of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies, asserted that Goldstone is “trying to shift the blame onto Israel for not cooperating” with his probe.
Israel stood by its long-standing policy of not compromising security by leaving IDF soldiers and officers open to international questioning.
“One is left with the suspicion that Goldstone's about-turn was prompted more by the investigation by a U.N. committee of independent experts, chaired by Judge Mary McGowan Davis, which cast new light on Israel's actions in Gaza,” wrote Gordon.
He also said that one lesson learned from the mistaken report is not to trust mainstream media. “The rush to judge Israel in the most critical terms is legendary, with some organs of the media more guilty than others. However, the overwhelming tendency to portray Israel in the most negative light is an ignominious epitaph that will adorn the media's headstone for years to come,” according to Gordon.

GOLDSTONE: I WAS WRONG ON ISRAEL’S INTENTIONS: Israel did not intentionally target civilians as a policy during the Gaza War, Richard Goldstone said, withdrawing a critical allegation in his report. "We know a lot more today about what happened in the Gaza war of 2008-09 than we did when I chaired the fact-finding mission appointed by the UN Human Rights Council that produced what has come to be known as the Goldstone Report," the South African judge wrote in a document published Sunday. "If I had known then what I know now, the Goldstone Report would have been a different document." Goldstone withdrew what was, perhaps, his most damaging conclusion: That there was evidence suggesting Israel had deliberately targeted civilians during its war with Hamas. He added that Hamas intentionally targeted civilians, and noted that unlike Israel, the group did not investigate its own actions. PM Benjamin Netanyahu called on the UN to cancel the report in light of Goldstone's article. "Everything we said has proven to be true," he said in a statement. "Israel did not intentionally harm civilians, its institutions and investigative bodies are worthy, while Hamas intentionally fired upon innocent civilians and did not examine anything. Watchdog Group:You Don't Boycott the MidEast's Only Democracy

JCC Watch is focusing attention on the partnership between the Jewish Community Center of New York City's Upper West Side and groups the support the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel.
The JCC of the Upper West Side, notes the watchdog group, is a beneficiary agency of the UJA-Federation. BDS was launched in 2005 by various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) which seek to demonize, delegitimize, and ultimately destroy Israel by the spread of misinformation, incitement, and promotion of various boycotts.
In a news conference held Sunday afternoon in front of the JCC offices, JCC Watch reported that the organization is partnering with a number of pro-BDS organizations.
Among those listed were the leftist organizations New Israel Fund, B'Tselem, Human Rights Watch, and J Street.
JCC Watch founder Richard Allen called on the JCC board of directors to establish public and transparent guidelines regarding BDS.
“It’s time that the board of directors of the JCC in Manhattan take action. It’s simple: all they have to do is stop supporting groups that partner with, fund, or support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement against Israel,” Allen said.

Irwin Hochberg, former Chairman of the Board of the UJA-Federation of New York and former National Campaign Chairman of Israel Bonds spoke of "the golden days" of the United Jewish Appeal, prior to the hijacking of the organization by liberal elements of the Jewish community. He was joined by Helen Freedman, executive director of Americans For A Safe Israel.
Expressing outrage at the indifference of the agency to the suffering of Jews in Judea and Samaria, Freedman said, "The JCC should have its members out in the street protesting this massacre at Itamar. Instead, they go on with business as usual, ignoring the brutality waged against Israel and blaming Israel for the ills of the Arab world."
She added that "by partnering with organizations like J Street, B’Tzelem, the New Israel Fund and Human Rights Watch, the JCC is exhibiting a state of moral confusion. One boycotts totalitarian regimes, like the Palestinian Authority, Hamas, Hizbullah and Iran, the sponsor of these terrorist groups.

Op 23 februari verscheen een rapport van Amnesty International waarin Israel werd beschuldigd van oorlogsmisdaden, roekeloze aanvallen op burgerdoelen en buitensporig geweld tijdens de oorlog in Gaza in januari van dit jaar. Hoewel de samenstellers van het rapport voor de vorm ook de raketten van Hamas op Israel aanhaalden, was het document toch voornamelijk op Israel gericht en werd de Joodse staat als hoofdschuldige aangewezen. Vervolgens verscheen een rapport van de Israelische organisatie Breaking the Silence waarin Israelische militairen het eigen leger ervan beschuldigden een hele serie ‘oorlogsmisdaden’ in Gaza te hebben begaan. De militairen zouden opzettelijk een groot aantal ongewapende, onschuldige Palestijnen op een wrede manier gedood hebben en Palestijnse burgers als menselijk schild hebben gebruikt. Alle beschuldigingen bleken slechts gebaseerd op vage geruchten. Bewijzen werden niet geleverd en er werden al evenmin speciale datums, tijden of plaatsen genoemd, waar de incidenten zouden hebben plaatsgevonden. De volgende aanval kwam van Human Rights Watch, de bekende spreekbuis van anti-Israël activisten. Ook deze club beschuldigde Israël van wandaden en ook van het gebruik van witte fosfor in dicht bevolkte gebieden in Gaza. Maar het Rode kruis heeft deze beschuldiging tegengesproken en verklaarde dat er geen bewijs bestaat dat witte fosfor door Israël in strijd met het internationaal recht werd gebruikt. Hoewel Human Rights Watch nog steeds een bepaalde status geniet, heeft deze club haar “morele kompas” al lang geleden verloren. Alsof de wereldopinie met deze rapporten nog niet genoeg op allerlei perverse leugens is getrakteerd, verscheen op 15 september het 575 pagina’s tellende “Goldstone rapport” genoemd naar de Zuid-Afrikaanse rechter Richard Goldstone, een man van Joodse afkomst.

Hoewel in dit rapport ook de raketbeschietingen door Hamas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1M4eH9Kk7I&feature=player_embedded op Israëlische burgerdoelen, als oorlogsmisdaden worden omschreven, is ook dit rapport niets anders dan één lange aanklacht tegen de Joodse staat. Het feit dat Hamas uit is op de vernietiging van Israel, is volledig buiten beschouwing gelaten. Goldstone’s conclusie is dat ‘Israel oorlogsmisdaden heeft begaan en mogelijk zelfs misdaden tegen de menselijkheid’. Het rapport is opgesteld in opdracht van de Mensenrechterraad van de Verenigde Naties en ingediend door Egypte (namens de Arabische en Afrikaanse landen), Pakistan (namens de Islamitische Conferentie) en Cuba. Allemaal notoire vijanden van de Joodse staat. De beschuldigingen in het rapport komen er op neer dat Israel de hoofdschuldige is en de Palestijnen en hun Hamas terreurregering, het slachtoffer. De uitkomst van het door Goldstone geleidde onderzoek was voorspelbaar omdat er al jaren sprake is van gebrek aan objectiviteit in de berichtgeving van organisaties die opereren onder de vlag van de Verenigde Naties. Israël viel Gaza binnen als reactie op de 7000 raketten en mortieren waarmee de Israelische burgerbevolking jarenlang vanuit Gaza is bestookt. De VN heeft nooit op deze terreur gereageerd. Punt van kritiek is ook dat Goldstone zeer selectief met de bronnen is omgegaan en zelfs getuigenissen van Hamas voor waar heeft aangenomen, alsof van deze terreurgroep de waarheid verwacht mocht worden.

Het gebruik van menselijke schilden wordt door Goldstone zelfs categorisch ontkend terwijl dat door een leider van Hamas zelf werd bevestigd. Nausicaa Marbe schreef op 1-1-2009 in de Volkskrant: Hamas op z’n best is martelaarschap als motor en bloed als decor. In deze cultuur knopen Hamasleiders de bomgordels om zwangere buiken en kerven joelende moeders met slachtmessen in de schedels van hun als jihadist verklede peuter tot het bloed voor de camera vloeit. Vallen Palestijnen terwijl ze Joden doden, dan barst het feest los. Dan staat de volgende generatie klaar voor de slachting, want Hamas spoort vrouwen aan om kanonnenvoer te baren. Dát is de ware tragiek van het Palestijnse volk: leiders die geen onderscheid maken tussen mens en bom, leven en dood, kind en soldaat, moskee en wapendepot, vriend en vijand. Oog in oog met deze vijand is Israël het toonbeeld van beheersing geweest.
Tijdens de 23 daagse Israëlische actie in Gaza heeft Hamas temidden van de chaos, barbaarse misdaden gepleegd waarbij de allerlaagste menselijke instincten naar boven zijn gekomen. Leiders van Fatah vertellen dat tientallen van hun volgelingen door Hamas zijn gemarteld en geëxecuteerd, waaronder zeker 35 Palestijnen die werden verdacht van 'collaboratie' met Israël. Ooggetuigen zeiden bang te zijn met de gruwelverhalen naar buiten te komen. Op een videofilmpje is te zien hoe leden van Fatah door Hamas om het leven worden gebracht. Fahmi Za'arir, een woordvoerder van Hamas, beschuldigde zijn eigen organisatie van de moord op de Fatah-gevangenen. 'Het is een schande dat Hamas de wapens richt op onze eigen mensen, in plaats van te vechten tegen Israël.' De lichamen van sommige slachtoffers zijn op bergen huisvuil achtergelaten waarna families werden ingelicht waar ze hun gedode familieleden konden vinden. Ook heeft Hamas gedurende ondervragingen, bij tenminste drie Fatahleden de ogen uitgestoken, en zijn tenminste 80 van hen door de benen geschoten en hun handen gebroken, omdat zij het door Hamas opgelegde huisarrest hadden genegeerd. Zelfs gewonde Fatahleden die zich een ziekenhuisbed in Gaza bevonden, werden door Hamas met kogels doorzeefd. Een woordvoerder van Fatah sprak van door Hamas aangerichte massaslachtingen. Over al dit soort misdaden is niets in het rapport van Goldstone terug te vinden.
Het rapport meldt ook niets over de door Hamas geroofde hulpgoederen die onder de eigen-mensen werden verdeeld en wat ze niet konden gebruiken, aan de hoogste bieder verkocht. Niets over de uitspraak van de Egyptische politieke analist Magdi Khalil die Hamas verantwoordelijk noemde voor de oorlog in de Gazastrook: 'sinds Hamas de controle nam over de Gazastrook hebben ze het gebied in een ware hel veranderd,' aldus Khalil. En wat evenmin in het rapport terug te vinden is, is het verslag wat Dr.Mirela Siderer http://www.unwatch.org/site/apps/nlnet/content2.aspx?c=bdKKISNqEmG&b=1313923&ct=7531313&printmode=1 aan Goldstone heeft gestuurd:
‘Ik ben gynaecoloog in de Israëlische plaats Ashkelon. In juli nodigde u mij uit mijn verhaal te doen over mijn ervaringen. Ik heb u verteld dat onder de patiënten die ik behandeld heb, ook vrouwen uit Gaza waren omdat ieder menselijk wezen voor mij gelijk is. Ik vertelde u, dat de kliniek waar ik werkte, op 14 Mei 2008 door een raket werd geraakt waardoor mijn leven dramatisch is veranderd. Ik liep daarbij zware verwondingen op evenals mijn patiënt die ik op dat moment aan het behandelen was. Daarnaast liepen ook nog honderd anderen verwondingen op. Ik heb in negen maanden tijd, acht operaties moeten ondergaan. Ik heb u alle feiten tot in detail verteld. Vervolgens stuurde u mij een brief waarin u schreef: ‘uw getuigenis is een essentieel onderdeel voor mijn onderzoek om de waarheid te achterhalen wat er precies gebeurt is’. ‘Maar nu ik uw rapport gezien heb ben ik ronduit geschokt. Waarom heeft u mijn verhaal totaal verzwegen? Ik ben enkel mijn naam ergens tussen haakjes tegen gekomen. Ik voel mij vernederd!’
Het verhaal van deze dokter staat niet op zich en laat nog eens zien waar de Verenigde Naties staan in het conflict tussen Israël en de Palestijnse doodscultuur. Ze hebben geen enkele belangstelling voor de waarheid. Ook Goldstone lijkt in zijn onderzoek niet echt van plan te zijn geweest de waarheid te achterhalen. Alles wijst er op dat Israël aan de schandpaal moest worden genageld.
De constante dreiging van raketaanvallen is voor geen enkel land in de wereld aanvaardbaar. Verzoek op verzoek van de Israëlische autoriteiten om te stoppen met de dagelijkse raketbeschietingen vonden geen gehoor bij Hamas ! Zelfs toen Israël als daad van goede wil, tientallen vrachtwagens met hulpgoederen naar Gaza stuurde, kregen ze daar raketten voor terug. Ieder ander land zou al lang in actie gekomen zijn. Israël heeft zich lang ingehouden met een militaire actie tegen de Palestijnse terreurgroepen wetend dat dit weer een golf van afkeuring teweeg zou brengen !
De Israëlische regering heeft het Goldstone rapport, volkomen terecht, als schandalig van de hand gewezen. De Israëlische president Simon Peres zegt dat het rapport ‘spot met de feiten en faalt onderscheid te maken tussen de werkelijke agressor en degene die handelt uit zelfverdediging.’ Ondanks allerlei absurde claims dat Israël bewust burgerdoelen zou hebben gebombardeerd, heeft de Joodse staat juist een aantal strategische doelen niet gebombardeerd vanwege de kans op burgerdoden. Maar deze feiten zijn door de onderzoekers volkomen genegeerd. Het rapport ontkent in feite Israëls recht op zelfverdediging en geeft immuniteit aan terroristen om hun moordzuchtige daden ongestoord uit te voeren. Het rapport geeft legimiteit aan terreur en maakt duidelijk dat Israël het enige land in de wereld is dat zich kennelijk niet mag verdedigen tegen aanvallen die zijn gericht op haar burgerbevolking. Israël is de meest bedreigde natie in de wereld en doet er alles aan geen onschuldige slachtoffers te maken, maar de wereld weigert dat te zien. De agressor wordt beloond en het slachtoffer veroordeelt. Goldstone’s dochter, Nicole Goldstone, zei in een interview voor Israël’s leger radio dat haar vader ‘geen enkele intentie had Israël kwaad te willen doen.’
Opnieuw dalen de raketten op Israël neer en opnieuw zwijgen de wereldleiders , de Verenigde Naties en hun ’waarheidsvinder’ Goldstone. De VN is al lang moreel failliet en selectief verontwaardigd als het om Israël gaat.

Dershowitz Slams Goldstone: "He's An Evil Man"

Following his scathing critique of the Goldstone Report, for which Israel is preparing a response, Harvard Law School’s Professor Alan Dershowitz calls Goldstone an “evil man.”
Speaking with Army Radio on Sunday morning, Dershowitz said that Goldstone – whose report to the United Nations on Israel’s anti-terrorism Operation Cast Lead accused Israel of war crimes – “is a traitor using his Jewishness to malign Israel… He is an evil man, one who allowed himself to be used against the Jewish people, an absolute traitor.”
In his internet-publicized analysis of the Goldstone report, Dershowitz wrote that it is “much worse than most of its detractors (and supporters) believe. It is far more accusatory of Israel, far less balanced in its criticism of Hamas, far less honest in its evaluation of the evidence, far less responsible in drawing its conclusion, far more biased against Israeli than Palestinian witnesses, and far more willing to draw adverse inferences of intentionality from Israeli conduct and statements than from comparable Palestinian conduct and statements.”
Goldstone’s report, Dershowitz wrote, “is worse than any report previously prepared by any other United Nations agency or human rights group. As Maj.-Gen. Avichai Mandelblit, the advocate general of the Israeli Defense Forces, aptly put it: ‘I have read every report, from Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, the Arab League. We ourselves set up investigations into 140 complaints. It is when you read these other reports and complaints that you realize how truly vicious the Goldstone report is. He made it look like we set out to go after the economic infrastructure and civilians, that it was intentional: It’s a vicious lie.’”
Methodology Worse than Conclusions
Dershowitz said that though the conclusions are harmful and unfavorable to Israel, it is Goldstone’s “methodology, analysis and substantive findings” that should be criticized. Dershowitz wrote that he has offered to debate Goldstone about his findings, but that Goldstone “has refused, as he has generally refused to respond substantively to credible critics of the report.”
Different Standards for Israel, Hamas
Prof. Dershowitz chiefly targets two aspects of the report. One is the fact that it uses different criteria for judging Hamas actions and Israeli actions: “Its writers applied totally different standards, rules and criteria in evaluating the intent of the parties to the conflict.” For instance, when faced with doubts about various incidents, in Israel’s case they were resolved against Israel, “concluding that its leaders intended to kill civilians,” while doubts regarding Hamas activities were resolved in favor of Hamas, “concluding that it did not intend to use Palestinian civilians as human shields.”
“Moreover, when it had precisely the same sort of evidence in relation to both sides - for example, statements by leaders prior to the commencement of the operation - it attributed significant weight to the Israeli statements, while entirely discounting comparable Hamas statements. This sort of evidentiary bias, though subtle, and perhaps not readily apparent to the non-legal reader, permeates the entire report.”
The Goldstone report also “takes a completely different view regarding the inferring of intent from actions. When it comes to Israel, the report repeatedly looks to results and infers from the results that they must have been intended. But when it comes to Hamas, it refuses to draw inferences regarding intent from results. For example, it acknowledges that some [Hama combatants wore civilian clothes, and it offers no reasonable explanation for why this would be so other than to mingle indistinguishably from civilians. Yet it refuses to infer intent from these actions.”
Conclusions are Wrong
Secondly, Dershowitz writes that the two central conclusions reached in the report are “demonstrably wrong.” The report’s two conclusions are that 1) Israel used the 8,000 Hamas rocket attacks on its citizens as an [excu for the real purpose of the operation, which was to target innocent Palestinian civilians for death, and 2) Hamas was not guilty of deliberately and willfully using the civilian population as human shields. It found “no evidence” that Hamas fighters “engaged in combat in civilian dress,” “no evidence” that “Palestinian combatants mingled with the civilian population with the intention of shielding themselves from attack,” and no support for the claim that mosques were used to store weapons… As we will see, the report is demonstrably wrong about both of these critical conclusions.”
Dershowitz told Army Radio that he feels Israel should respond to the report by conducting its own inquiry, by a committee headed by a former Supreme Court judge.
He said that he and Goldstone were friends and colleagues for a long time, “but now I see him as a traitor… It’s as if they would have taken a Jew to edit the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. He uses his Jewish last name to kosher his slander of the Jewish People.”

Goldstone Sent 28 SA Blacks to Death

Richard Goldstone, who headed the UN committee which investigated alleged war crimes perpetrated by the IDF during Operation Cast Lead in Gaza, was responsible for sending at least 28 black South Africans to death when they appeared before him during the apartheid regime, and wrote in one of his rulings that the gallows are the only deterrent for killers.
