Lang niet alle Arabieren haten Israel

Sinds de zogenaamde Arabische lente wordt het Israelische ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken overspoeld met Arabieren die asiel aanvragen of visa voor een bezoek. Sommigen vragen zelfs dienst te mogen doen in het Israelische leger. http://israeltoday.nl/headlines/9-nederlands/1765-buitenlandse-arabieren-willen-in-idf-en-mossad-dienen#article  Onder de steeds maar toenemende haat in de Arabische wereld tegen Israel, blijken duizenden Arabieren uit landen als Egypte, Syrië, Jordanië en Irak te willen vertrekken en zich in de Joodse staat te willen vestigen. Zij beginnen te beseffen dat Israelisch geen bloeddorstige monsters zijn zoals hen dat van kinds af aan is geleerd. Ook zijn ze tot de ontdekking gekomen dat de bewoners van Israel het veel beter hebben dan in de totalitaire Arabische samenlevingen. Velen beginnen zich ook te realiseren dat het onder de nieuwe machthebbers mogelijk nog slechter zal worden dan het al was en de vrijheden tot een minimum beperkt zullen worden. Het Israelische ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken zei tegen de krant Yediot Achronot dat het zelfs verzoeken ontvangt van 'leden van Arabische parlementen, leden van politieke bewegingen en andere belangrijke politieke figuren.' "Jullie zijn het enige land (in de regio) dat de persoonlijke vrijheid respecteert", schreef Dawoud, een computertechnicus uit Irak die politiek asiel aanvroeg in Israel. "De mensen van Israel zijn de sterkste en beschaafdste in de regio", schreef een andere jongeman uit Iran, die naar de Joodse staat wil verhuizen met zijn hele gezin.

Deze ontwikkeling doet denken aan de Arabische immigratie naar het Heilige Land tussen 1893 en 1948. Door de massale Joodse immigratie kwam er een economische ontwikkeling op gang waardoor arme Arabieren uit de omringende landen het door de Volkerenbond aan Israel toegezegd land binnentrokken op zoek naar een beetje welvaart. Dankzij de nieuwe mogelijkheden nam het levenspeil van de Arabieren enorm toe, steeg hun welvaart met gevolg dat Arabische immigranten uit omringende landen bleven toestromen. Uit Britse gegevens blijkt dat in die jaren de Arabische bevolking in het gebied met 120 procent toenam, veel meer dan de natuurlijke bevolkingsgroei. In Jaffa hebben zich in die tijd Arabieren uit niet minder dan 15 Arabische landen gevestigd. Een in 1931 gehouden volkstelling maakt duidelijk waar de in 1931 aanwezige moslims vandaan kwamen. http://www.danielpipes.org/1110/from-time-immemorial  Nog steeds dragen heel wat Arabieren (die nu tussen de Jordaan en de Middellandse Zee wonen) de achternamen die hun Arabische landen van herkomst verraden. 

Dat lang niet alle Arabieren Israel haten is niet of nauwelijks in het nieuws terug te vinden. Er komen steeds meer reacties van Arabieren die zeggen niet onder het PLO-bewind in Ram-allah te willen leven. Een belangrijk, maar vaak genegeerd aspect in het conflict tussen Israel en PLO-bewind is dat veel gewone Arabieren die leven in de gebieden die onder controle van dit bewind staan, helemaal geen onafhankelijke Palestijnse staat willen en zeggen dat een dergelijke staat rampzalig zou zijn, en dat ze liever onder Israelisch bestuur blijven. De duizenden Arabieren koesteren sympathie voor de Joodse staat en vinden werk in de Joodse dorpen in Samaria en Judea en ook elders in Israel. Daar verdienen ze hun geld voor het dagelijks levensonderhoud. Zij zeggen dat de Joodse dorpen eerder een zegen dan een vloek voor hen zijn en vinden dat Samaria en Judea in geen geval in handen van het PLO-bewind mogen vallen.

Volgens Sjeik Abu Khader Dschabari heeft de wereld geen enkel idee van wat er in werkelijkheid leeft onder de bevolking in deze gebieden. “Een eventuele erkenning van een Palestijnse staat door de VN, zal noch de Arabieren in deze gebieden, noch de Israeli’s iets positiefs brengen.” Dschabari noemt de mooiste jaren van zijn leven de tijd voordat de omstreden Oslo-akkoorden in werking traden. http://www.franklinterhorst.nl/De_20Oslo_20akkoorden.htm   “Destijds hadden wij het onder Israelische leiding vele malen beter, in het bijzonder op financieel gebied. Vandaag hebben wij in de gebieden die onder controle van het bewind in Ram-allah staan, een werkloosheid van 40 procent.”

Rania Fadel – een Israelisch-Arabische studente – en vrijwilligster voor de organisatie 'Stand with Us'  http://www.standwithus.com, neemt het op voor de democratie van Israel. Voormalig moslimterrorist Zacharia Anani liet op 8 december 2005 zijn stem horen op de Princeton Universiteit in de Verenigde Staten. Hij groeide op in Libanon en vertelde hoe hij leerde Israel te haten. Hij werd in de zeventiger jaren christen, maar zelfs in die hoedanigheid betekenden de Joden niets voor hem. Hij begon de Joodse geschiedenis te bestuderen en was diep geschokt te lezen hoe de Joden eeuwenlang hebben geleden. “Er trad een verandering op in mijn hart. Ik ontdekte dat Israel beschermd diende te worden omdat God met Israel is. Zij hebben alle oorlogen gewonnen omdat God met hen was. Satan zal geleidelijk aan alle natien aan zijn kant weten te krijgen in zijn strijd tegen de kinderen van Israel. Het is door de hand van God dat de staat Israel miraculeus is herboren en het is Gods Machtige Hand die Israels vijanden keer op keer in het stof doen bijten. God wil niet dat Israel vernietigd wordt en de duivel en zijn immense aanhang zullen daarom falen. De profeet Zacharia zegt dat er een moment zal komen in de toekomst dat de God van Israel alles in het werk zal stellen om de volken uit te roeien die tegen Jeruzalem oprukken.”

Een andere Arabische stem is die van Brigitte Gabriël een  overlevende van Arafats moordmachine in Libanon. In een gehouden toespraak aan de Duke Universiteit, vertelde zij over haar leven in Libanon waar haar werd geleerd dat Joden duivels waren die men de zee in moest drijven. Zij vertelde over de door moslims aangerichte slachtpartijen onder christenen, dorp na dorp en van haar 10^e tot haar 17^e in een schuilkelder te hebben geleefd verstoken van elektriciteit, gebrek aan voedsel en water. Het was Israel die haar te hulp kwam. Haar moeder was gewond geraakt door een granaatscherf en opgenomen in een Israelisch ziekenhuis voor behandeling. Toen zij in het ziekenhuis aankwamen zag zij honderden gewonde mensen, Arabieren, christenen en Israelische soldaten, bij elkaar liggend op de vloer. De artsen hielpen iedereen aan hun verwondingen. De artsen keken niet naar religie of wat hun politieke achtergrond ook was. Zij vertelde dat zij voor de eerste keer in haar leven met een menselijke eigenschap geconfronteerd werd die zij in haar cultuur nog nooit had meegemaakt. Zij zag hoe de Israeli’s het leven van anderen respecteerden- hoe zij liefde voor hun vijanden konden opbrengen, zelfs in hun meest moeilijke momenten.

Zij begon zich te realiseren dat zij altijd had geluisterd naar gefabriceerde leugens van haar overheid over de Joden en Israel. Stel je voor zei ze, dat je als jood zo in een Arabisch ziekenhuis zou belanden, je zou gelyncht worden, op de grond worden gesmeten met mensen om je heen die van vreugde zouden schreeuwen: "Allahu Akbar". Dat zou door het ziekenhuis galmen en de omliggende straten. “Het verschil tussen de Arabische wereld en Israel is het verschil in karakter en respect voor het leven. Het is barbarisme tegenover beschaving! Het is dictatuur tegenover democratie. Het is het kwade tegenover het goede. Het is duidelijk dat het Arabische terrorisme niets te maken heeft met "wanhoop door bezetting", maar puur door het bestaan van de Joodse staat. Het wordt tijd dat iedereen opstaat om de staat Israël te verdedigen, het land dat ligt aan de frontlijn van het terrorisme.”

"Ik ben er trots op dat ik in het Israelische leger dien", zegt moslim Siad Churani. Hij komt uit het Arabische dorp Aqabara, in de buurt van Safed. "Veel mensen verbazen zich erover dat ik bij de elite-eenheid Golani in het Israelische leger dien. Maar ik vind dat ik in een land woon, dat mij veel heeft gegeven." Siad hoort bij het groeiend aantal Arabische Israelische staatsburgers dat zich aanmeldt bij de IDF, het Israelische leger. Net als Ittai, uit II Samuël 15:19. Ittai was een soldaat eersteklas in het leger van David. Maar hij was ook een Gatiet, dus afkomstig uit een van de Filistijnse steden. Ittai hoorde bij de zeshonderd mannen die loyaal bleven aan David en wegvluchtten uit het leger van Absalom. In het zomernummer van 2010 schreef de redactie van Israel Today al dat de interesse voor een dienstverband in het leger stijgt onder de in Israel wonende Arabieren.

Joden, Arabieren, Shi’itische moslims, Druzen en Bedoeïenen, allemaal tesamen in het Israelische leger.

Tijdens een speciale bijeenkomst ter gelegenheid van het Loofhuttenfeest in de loofhut van Generaal Ashkenasi, vertegenwoordigde de eerder genoemde Siad Churani zijn medesoldaten van de Golani-eenheid. "Het was een grote eer voor mij", zegt Siad glunderend. Hij draagt het insigne van een ‘uitmuntend militair’. In het begin hadden zijn Joodse kameraden hem nog een beetje argwanend gevraagd hoe hij als Arabier dacht te kunnen functioneren bij een elite-eenheid als de Golani. Nu zegt hij: "Ik geniet ieder ogenblik van het contact met mijn medesoldaten. Er is geen spoortje onderscheid te vinden tussen mij als Arabier en de Joodse soldaten. Integendeel, telkens als ik op verlof ben, verlang ik terug naar mijn kameraden.” Ook zijn medesoldaten spreken lovend over Siad.

Vader Joessef zegt trots: "Ze vertrouwen hem blindelings, hoe moeilijk de militaire operatie waar ze aan deelnemen ook is. Ik kan dat zelf goed begrijpen. Ook in mijn eigen diensttijd in de jaren tachtig, en later als reservist, heb ik steeds weer zij aan zij met islamitische infanteriesoldaten gewerkt. Onder andere in de Zuid-Libanese veiligheidszone en aan de Egyptische grens." Het weekend brengt Siad Churani het liefst thuis door in zijn dorp. Een soldaat mag niet te veel vertellen over zijn militaire opdrachten. Maar toch lukt het Siad om zijn islamitische buren te overtuigen van de noodzaak van een sterk Israelisch leger. En dat doet hij zo goed, dat jonge Arabieren zijn voorbeeld volgen. Siad: "Ik vind het belangrijk dat ook Arabieren in het Israelische leger dienen. Israel is het land waarin wij als Joden en Arabieren samen wonen. Daarom moeten we het ook samen verdediging." Rafael D.Frankel  http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Middle-East/2008/0812/p07s02-wome.html, correspondent van “The Christian Science Monitor” bracht op 12 augustus 2008 een bezoek aan het dorp Mawassi in Gaza wat destijds onderdeel uitmaakte van het Israelische dorp Gush Katif. Volgens Frankel heeft de Arabische bevolking ter plaatse maar één grote wens, en dat is de terugkeer van de Joodse bevolking. De inwoners vertellen dat het leven heel wat beter was vóór 2005 toen de Joden er nog waren. Sinds die tijd is de economie van de daar levende Arabieren volkomen stil komen te liggen. “Wij verlangen terug naar de tijd dat de Joden hier nog waren” zei Riyad al-Laham, een vader van acht kinderen, tegen Frankel. “De Israelisch voelden zich verantwoordelijk voor ons”. Hij werkte 20 jaar in de kassen van de Israelisch en verdiende goed evenals de andere inwoners van Mawassi en de duizenden Arabieren die werkzaam waren in de andere Joodse nederzettingen, verteld Laham.

 

(*)Nisreen Abdel Nabi uit het oostelijk deel van Jeruzalem, schreef in augustus 2009 een brief aan Israels minister van Buitenlandse zaken Avigdor Lieberman, dat in besloten kring veel Arabieren in Judea en Samaria positief over Israel spreken. In een gesprek met Israel Today noemt Nisreen de PLO-leider Abu Mazen en zijn regering dieven en leugenaars. “Ik zie geen verschil tussen Hamas en het PLO-bewind. Ga maar eens naar de dorpen en praat met de mensen daar. Dan zul je vanzelf ontdekken wat zij van Abu Mazen en zijn kliek vinden. Het volk haat zijn regering. Wij storen ons niet aan Joodse nederzettingen en pioniers. Integendeel, wij kunnen met de meesten van hen heel goed overweg. Bovendien verdienen veel Arabieren hun inkomen in deze nederzettingen. Geloof me, veel Arabieren in Samaria en Judea verlangen terug naar het Israelische bestuur. Dat ging veel respectvoller met ons om dan het PLO-bewind. Niet de Israelische agenten en soldaten van destijds, maar de PLO-politie van nu zijn een verschrikking.”

Nisreen: “De haat propaganda tegen Israel en tegen de Joden begint op de PLO-scholen in het oostelijk deel van Jeruzalem en in de gebieden die onder controle van het PLO-bewind staan. Arabische kinderen worden overspoeld met haat tegen hun Joodse buren. Arabieren veranderen pas van houding tegenover Joden en Israeli’s als ze hen persoonlijk kennen. Dan merken ze dat het geen duivels zijn.” Uit een studie van de Harvard universiteit uit 2008 bleek dat 77 procent van de Israelische Arabieren nergens anders zou willen wonen. Het negatieve beeld dat het voor Arabieren verschrikkelijk zou zijn om onder Joodse overheersing te leven, wordt met deze onderzoeken weerlegd. Er is een Bijbels gebod waar veel Israelische Joden zich aan houden: “Iemand die als vreemdeling in jullie land verblijft, mag je niet onderdrukken. Vicevoorzitter Danny Danon kondigde op 27 september 2011 aan dat de Knesset eind oktober zal stemmen over een wetsvoorstel waarin wordt opgeroepen tot volledige annexatie van Samaria en Judea. Het wetsvoorstel maakt tevens een eind aan alle financiële verplichtingen tussen Israel en het PLO-bewind. De financieringsovereenkomsten werden bereikt met de hoop op een duurzame vrede en veiligheid voor Israel. Het is volkomen duidelijk dat het PLO-bewind geen vrede wil en zich blijft inzetten voor de volledige ontmanteling van de Joodse staat.

Het logo van de PLO laat niets aan duidelijkheid te wensen over. Van Israel is geen spoor meer te bekennen.

Israel voelt zich niet langer verplicht zich aan de afspraken uit het verleden te houden. Mocht het wetsvoorstel door de Knesset worden aangenomen, dan zijn ook de Oslo-akkoorden niet langer meer van toepassing. Het plan is alle Arabieren in de aloude Bijbelse land het Israelische staatsburgerschap aan te bieden, net zoals dat het geval is met de Arabieren, die in het huidige Israel wonen en dit alles in overeenstemming met het internationale recht zoals Israel dat altijd gedaan heeft conform de opdracht van de Balfour Declaratie van 1917.  http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/Peace%20Process/Guide%20to%20the%20Peace%20Process/The%20Balfour%20Declaration

Wie wil er nog deel uitmaken van een cultuur waar het leven veracht wordt en waarvan enige beschaving geen sprake is. Dus is het niet echt vreemd dat grote aantallen Arabieren er voor kiezen in het beschaafde Israel te willen wonen. Het zijn de wereldleiders die in belangrijke mate mede de oorzaak zijn van alle ellende. Zij hebben meegeholpen een volk uit het niets te creëren en deze een land toe te wijzen dat meer dan 3000 jaar eigendom is van de kinderen van Israel. Ze hebben meegeholpen de haat en de terreur tegen het Joodse volk te financieren. Ze hebben Israel onder druk gezet land aan dit corrupte en misdadige, donorgelden stelende bewind over te dragen.

Koranwedstrijd levert scholieren AK-47

MOGADISHU - Een groep scholieren heeft in Somalië een AK-47 automatisch geweer en omgerekend ruim 500 euro gewonnen in de jaarlijkse koranwedstrijd van de radicaalislamitische terreurbeweging al-Shabaab. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-14985549

Tijdens de wedstrijd, die vorige maand plaatsvond, probeerden scholieren in de leeftijd van 10 tot 17 jaar uit een aantal Somalische districten de koran zo goed mogelijk te lezen.

De groep die als tweede eindigde, kreeg eveneens een kalasjnikov en 365 euro. De organisatoren bedeelden de nummer drie met twee handgranaten en 290 euro. De kinderen kregen ook religieuze boeken.

In het verleden gingen de winnaars al eens naar huis met een granaatwerper. ''Kinderen moeten hun ene hand gebruiken voor scholing, en de andere om de islam te verdedigen met een wapen'', zo verklaarde een woordvoerder van al-Shabaab tegen Andalus Radio, een radiostation van al-Shabaab.

Al-Shabaab controleert grote delen van het zuiden van Somalië. De beweging strijdt al jaren tegen het zwakke centrale gezag in de hoofdstad Mogadishu, dat steun krijgt van de internationale gemeenschap.

There is a very interesting survey that reveals whether the Palestinian Arabs living in Israel hate their country of choice. In this survey, “77% of the State of Israel’s Arab citizens would rather live in the Jewish state than in any other country in the world, according to a new study titled ‘Coexistence in Israel’.”

We all know that most media institutions portray Palestine as the victim when in fact Israel is merely acting in self defense. In this great article by Edwin A. Lock of the Ayn Rand Institute, it is stated that “the Palestinians are the initiators of the violence–an indiscriminate violence in which they do not care whom they kill, whether soldier or child. Israel, in contrast, is acting in self-defense, in retaliation for such terrorism. And its response is aimed at those responsible for the violence and at the facilities from which they operate. (Any innocent noncombatants killed in the process are not the targets of the retaliation, and their blood is on the terrorists’ hands.)”

Now this survey confirms that even the Palestinian Arabs refuse to live in a dictatorship like Palestine. Many people are not aware that freedom and individual rights are nonexistent in most Arab dictatorships. The rights to life, liberty, property and pursuit of happiness are limited and restricted in Palestine and in most of the Arab world. Israel is the only state in the Middle East that respects individual rights. The Israelis brought technology, science, education, and economic progress in that barren areas which was once ruled by brutal mystic dictators.

Locke observes: “Consider that when the Jews came to Palestine, it was a desert. People were living in the same primitive manner as they had been since the time of Moses. The Jews brought Western knowledge and Western values to the Middle East. They turned an almost barren land into a modern, industrial civilization. They raised cities where there had been only dirt; they developed irrigated farms where there had been only dry sand; they built cars and trucks and planes where there had been mainly pack animals. They produced wealth where there had been only poverty. They brought freedom and individual rights to a land where these ideas were unknown.”

Indeed, the Palestinians do not seek to regain their freedom. Most Palestinians are guilty for their passivity and inaction. They are no doubt enemies of freedom. The Arab dictatorships reject the concept of individual rights and reason, and their goal is to spread of Islam because this political ideology is compatible with tyranny. Islam gives them the absolute power and authority to enslave their own people and maintain absolute political power. Like what Locke said, “Every Arab country is a monarchy, theocracy or some kind of dictatorship. Freedom of speech, property rights, free elections, and the separation of church and state are almost nonexistent. Speaking out against the rulers or against the Muslim religion leads to imprisonment or death. All attempts to start competing political parties are ruthlessly crushed.”

The brutal rule and ruthless dictatorship of the mystics and tyrants in the Arab world is the very reason why many Palestinians and Arabs migrated to Israel. Despite the anti-Antisemitism of the Arab world, the Israelis welcomed the Arab immigrants and respected their culture and human rights.

It is difficult to find a more neglected story than the relative satisfaction of Palestinian Arabs living in Israel as is revealed from a recent Harvard Study. (Palestinians Arabs (including those living in greater Jerusalem) constitute 20% of the population). Aware of inconvenient polls which reveal that Palestinian living in Israel are vehemently opposed to becoming citizens of Palestine, the researchers did their best to lower the satisfaction number by phrasing the question so as to receive the most negative number. They asked Palestinian Arab if they would rather live in Israel or in any other country in the world.

Let yourselves go, dream away, they researchers seemed to be say. Fantasize. How about living in Dubai, in Britain or the US?

What a disappointment. Israel’s Arab citizens refused to play along. The vast majority of them insisted that like Israel best.

77% of the State of Israel’s Arab citizens would rather live in the Jewish state than in any other country in the world, according to a new study titled “Coexistence in Israel”. The study was aimed at examining the relations between Israel’s Jewish and Arab citizens on the State’s 60th anniversary, and included 1,721 respondents.

The findings also revealed that a great majority of Israel’s citizens (73% of the Jews and 94% of the Arabs) want to live in a society in which Arab and Jewish citizens have mutual respect and equal opportunities.

66% percent of Jewish citizens and 84% of Arab citizens believe the Israeli government investments should begin now, and not wait until the end of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.

The greater commitment of Israeli Arab to integration may be explained in their differing views of its benefits. 90.8% of the Arabs believe improved coexistence would be economically beneficial while only 48.1% of the Jews do. 88.7% of the Arabs but only 43.9% of the Jews see cultural benefits in coexistence.

Most significantly, both communities acknowledge the security risks posed by greater integration. Only 23.5% of the Jews and 70.7% of the Arabs believe that greater integration would increase Israel’s security.

The fact that 40% of Jewish citizens who believe greater integration to be a security risk are none the less supportive of such measures is quite remarkable as is the fact that a third of the Arab Israeli population are willing to acknowledge the risk involved.

Other polls similarly demonstrate that to achieve better integration, most of the Arab citizens of Israel support voluntary national service. They are not subject to compulsory military service though they may volunteer to serve and some do.

Yet a poll carried out by University of Haifa last month revealed that 75 percent of Israeli Arabs between the ages of 16 and 22 support voluntary national service. The poll also found that the vast majority of the Arab public is unaware of the national service. 77.4 percent overall and 79.6 percent of youth said they know little or nothing about the program. Moreover, the poll found that once given basic information about conditions in the national service and its goals, not only were Israeli Arab youth supportive of the idea, but so were 71.9 percent of all Arab men and 83.8 percent of all Arab women. In contrast, some 80 percent of members of Arab political parties opposed national service.

In other words, ideological diatribes aside, the attitudes of Israeli Arabs demonstrates that the Jewish state is doing a pretty good job accommodating it’s large Palestinian minority despite the trying circumstances under which she is forced to live.

Dan lijkt het verdacht veel op zwartmakerij van Israel en dat valt weer onder 'Anti-Semitische uitingen... '  Voor mijn gevoel is de tweede wereldoorlog nog nooit gestopt...

Egypt: US Has No Right to Monitor Other Countries on Religion

Egypt has slammed its inclusion by the United States on a list of nations that violate the religious rights of their citizens, found in the Executive Summary of the U.S. State Department's annual International Religious Freedom Report.

A spokesman for Egypt’s Foreign Ministry told reporters on Saturday that no country should give itself the right to act as a monitoring body on other sovereign nations. “Each country can understand its own problems and challenges and work on them efficiently,” the spokesman said in a statement.

Egypt is found on a list of 30 nations where “violations of religious freedom have been noteworthy” in the report’s Executive Summary – as is Israel. 

The United States itself does not appear on the list; according to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, reports on domestic violations of religious freedom are prepared and issued separately and periodically throughout the year.

Striking was the lack of any mention of the harassment, official and otherwise, visited upon the small Jewish community in Egypt.

Egypt’s largest Jewish house of worship, downtown Cairo’s Sha’ar HaShamayim synagogue, was targeted by an Arab terrorist in February who attempted to set the building ablaze with an explosive suitcase. Sha’ar HaShamayim is the synagogue in which Israeli diplomats pray when they visit Cairo. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/news.aspx/136105

Egyptian Civil Rights: 156 Christians Arrested Over Church

Egyptian officials arrested 156 Christians Thursday in connection with a protest one day earlier over an unfinished church. One Christian protester was killed by police during the Wednesday demonstration. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/news.aspx/140816

The detainees are charged with several crimes, including attempting to murder the assistant head of security in Giza. They were not allowed legal representation during questioning.

The Christian community in Giza had planned to use a partially-complete building as a church once construction is finished. However, the community was denied a permit for a church and told the building can be used as a community center, but not as a house of worship.

Government officials have accused the community of violating building law, while many Christians have accused the government of discrimination against non-Muslims.

United States officials have expressed concern over the timing of recent Muslim-Christian clashes. Tensions between Egypt's Muslim majority and Coptic Christian minority have risen shortly before the parliamentary elections scheduled for December.

“We've seen a clear uptick in recent weeks of incitement coming from media outlets and clerics espousing sectarian hatred and violence.This kind of rhetoric goes too far and stokes the fire of extremists looking for ammunition to justify violent acts against religious minorities,” said Leonard Leo of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.

Egyptian Foreign Affairs Committee head Mustafa El-Feki laid the blame elsewhere, accusing Israel of causing Muslim-Christian fighting. The Mossad was behind recent clashes, he claimed.

Persecution of religious minorities in Egypt dates back generations, and led to the expulsion of nearly all of Egypt's Jews. Despite this, Egyptian Jews have a long history, as attested to by the 280,000 documents in the  Cairo Geniza, found in a synagogue storeroom in 1996,  taken to Cambridge University by the British and still being catalogued to date.

Members of the Jewish minority, which in the 1940s numbered approximately 80,000, were usually denied citizenship. In 1948 bombs were set off in the Jewish quarter in Cairo, murdering 70 and wounding hundreds more.

In 1956, the Egyptian government expelled 25,000 Jews and confiscated their property. A second round of expulsions and confiscation took place in 1967.

It is estimated that less than 100 Jews now live in Egypt. Anti-Semitism,however, remains a problem, as media outlets often incite against Jews and Israel.

The government has announced plans to honor Jewish structures as part of Egyptian history, and in March 2010 completed a restoration of the historic Maimonides synagogue in Cairo. However, no government officials attended the opening of the synagogue, and the government announced shortly after the opening that Jews would not be allowed to pray in the building.

Terrorists' Goal is Three-Way Missile Attack on Tel Aviv

IDF Intelligence chief General Amos Yadlin said Monday afternoon that the ultimate goal held by anti-Israel terrorists is to attack Tel Aviv and the Gush Dan region, the heart of Israeli commerce and Israel's most concentrated population area,  from three fronts. Iran, Syria and Hizbullah hope for a chance to rain missiles on central Israel from three directions, he said.

“Gush Dan is the main target at which our enemies plan to fire missile,” he said. Yadlin spoke at an event marking 100 years since the establishment of the first kibbutz, the collective settlements that were unique to Israel at the start of the return to Zion.

Currently most rocket attacks are carried out by Gaza terrorists, and target southern Israel. Hamas hopes to gain the improved missile technology that would allow it to target central Israel as well, Yadlin said.

Hizbullah targeted Israeli cities, villages, roads and industrial areas with missiles during the Second Lebanon War, raining down katyusha rockets throughout the north and one grad missle that reached the Netanya area. 114 IDF soldiers and 43 civilians were killed. The terrorist group, which has since joined Lebanon's ruling coalition, was unable to carry out plans to target central Israel after IDF warplanes demolished its larger missiles in the first days of battle.

Yadlin also spoke of the chances for Middle East peace. The biggest obstacle to peace is Iran, he said. The Islamic Republic funds terrorist groups that upset regional stability and undermine peace talks. Iran gives Hizbullah $1 billion every year, and also gives Hamas and Islamic Jihad annual donations of $100 million and $50 million respectively.

Hizbullah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad all list the destruction of Israel as one of their primary goals and are all opposed to peace talks between Israel and Arab states or the Palestinian Authority.

Islamic Jihad denies it fires grads

Fearing Israeli retribution for missile attacks on Ashkelon and Eilat, Gaza terror gang Islamic Jihad has joined Hamas in denying any connection to the attacks.

A senior Islamic Jihad terrorist who goes by the honorific 'Abu Ahmed' told London-based Al-Sharq al-Awsat Israel has been making threats against the Gaza-based groups and that it may decide to act upon them. He speculated that the Jewish state could carry out targeted killings and attacks upon predetermined targets, in order to ease the pressure it has been under since the Turkish flotilla incident.

He also did not rule out the possibility that Israel would launch another war in Gaza, but emphasized that the terror organizations had also learned tactical lessons from the Cast Lead operation and and improved their deployment.

Abu Ahmed denied his group had launched the missiles at Eilat and said that Israel is behind the attack on itself. Islamic Jihad's strategy, he said, is based on “keeping the flame of the struggle burning only within Israeli territory,” and that it is making an effort to carry out suicide bombings from Judea and Samaria. The cooperation between Israel and Palestinian Authority forces is making this very difficult, he explained.

Abu Ahmed said that relations between Islamic Jihad and Hamas are good, but reality on the ground belied that statement last Thursday, when three terrorists – one from Islamic Jihad and two from Hamas – were wounded in a local firefight that began as a verbal confrontation. The Islamic Jihad man was taken prisoner by Hamas men who tortured him and then handed him over to the Hamas government police force. He was later seen at Shifa hospital, where he was being treated after being shot in both legs.

Gaza Terrorists Attack UN Children’s Camp, Warn Aid Director

Gaza terrorists raided a United Nations beachside children’s summer camp Sunday and left death threat warnings for John Ging, the head of U.N. Relief and Works Agency's (UNRWA) Gaza operations. The attack was reported by the Associated Press but was ignored by most major local and foreign newspapers and web sites. No children were at the camp, which is to open in three weeks.   

“We were shocked by this painful attack,” Adnan Abu Hasna, UNRWA spokesman said at a press conference. Hamas condemned the pre-dawn attack by black-masked terrorists who entered in jeeps and tied the hands of a guard. They damaged eight tents, burning several of them, and torched several plastic water tanks. The terrorists also left behind three bullets next to a written threat to kill Ging and other United Nations officials.

The Ahrar Islamic terrorist group took responsibility for the raid. That group and several other organizations even more extreme than Hamas have charged that the United Nations ruins Muslim values by teaching secular subjects and allowing boys and girls to mingle together. Hamas and other terrorist groups also have attacked Internet cafes, Christian institutions and music stores since the Hamas coup four years ago that resulted in the group's total control over Gaza.

Most newspapers, while ignoring the attack, published U.N. claims that most of the damage sustained from the Operation Cast Lead last year has not been repaired. The international agency blamed Israel for the state of affairs, charging that the partial closing of Gaza crossings has prevented needed materials from reaching the region.

The United Nations and news agencies continue to describe the situation at Gaza crossings as a “blockade” despite daily shipments of hundreds of tons of humanitarian and other aid. Israel closed the crossings to commercial traffic after Hamas kidnapped Israeli solider Gilad Shalit nearly four years ago.

Attempts by the IDF to reopen the crossings were thwarted by Hamas terrorist attacks on trucks and personnel bringing aid to Gaza residents. The de facto Hamas government in Gaza has been accused of preferring that the crossings stay closed so it can reap profits from the tunnel smuggling system along the border with Egypt.

A U.S.-born Muslim cleric urges Muslims in the United States Army to kill their comrades in arms before they take part in military actions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Anwar al-Awlaki, wanted in Yemen “dead or alive” by the U.S., released a videotape of an interview with him on Sunday, including the incendiary comments. He is a leader in the Yemeni wing of Al-Qaeda, and is wanted by both Yemeni and U.S. authorities.

Awlaki, born in New Mexico in 1971, praised the actions of Nidal Malik Hasan, a U.S. Army psychiatrist who murdered 13 people at the Fort Hood army base in Texas six months ago. "What Nidal Hassan did was heroic... and I call on all Muslims serving in the US army to follow his path," Awlaqi said in Al Qaeda-released footage carried by the US monitoring group SITE.

"Nidal was my student,” Awlaki said. “I'm proud of Nidal Hasan and this was a heroic act… Who can object to what he did? He killed soldiers on their way to Iraq and Afghanistan… If the situation remains, we will see new Nidal Hasans appearing.”

“These American soldiers on their way to Afghanistan and Iraq, we will kill them,” Awlaki exhorted.

When the interviewer asked if killing American soldiers might negatively affect Muslims in the United States, Awlaki responded abruptly: "Is protecting the reputation of Muslims in America more important than bombs dropping on millions of Muslims elsewhere?”

Awlaki is suspected of having been in email contact with Hasan, as well as involvement in the December attempt to blow up an American jetliner bound for Detroit. Ignorance and Poverty? Not Here

Contrary to the school that says terrorism is born of poverty and ignorance, Awlaki’s father Nasser earned a master's degree in agricultural economics at New Mexico State University in 1971, received a doctorate at the University of Nebraska, and worked at the University of Minnesota from 1975 to 1977. The family returned to Yemen in 1978, where Nasser served as Agriculture Minister and as president of Sanaa University.

Rockets Fired at Eilat, Land in Jordan

After two hours of conflicting reports, it has been ascertained that one or two rockets were fired at Eilat, but did not land there.

Shortly before 11:00 this morning, two or three explosions were heard in Eilat, and reports of rockets fired from Jordan or the Sinai at the southern port city began to surface. The reports took on various shames and forms, and nearly every permutation of Kassams and Katyushas fired from Jordan and Sinai towards Eilat was reported until around 1 PM, when the army finally announced that no findings of rocket blasts had been located in the city.

It then began to become clear that rockets had landed in the Jordanian city of Aqaba, adjacent to Eilat.  Egypt denied that missiles had been over-shot from its territory, while a Jordanian security source soon announced that the rockets had been under-shot from within Jordanian territory, not reaching their target of Eilat.

An official Jordanian government spokesman said only that an explosion had occurred in a warehouse north of Aqaba, causing damage but no casualties.

Israel has been officially at peace with Jordan since 1994, though King Abdullah recently said that his country was better off economically before it signed the peace agreement with Israel. "Our relationship with Israel is at an all-bottom low," he added.


Previous Eilat Attacks

Though it has a quiet reputation, this is not the first time that Eilat has been targeted by terrorists, via rockets or otherwise. In February 1968, the city was shelled by Jordanian katyusha rockets, and again in December 2005; damage was caused to a car on a city street in the latter attack. In August 1969, Egyptians fired rockets at Eilat.

In November 1990, some 20 kilometers north of Eilat, an Egyptian soldier opened fire at a group of Israeli, murdering four. On May 30, 1992, two Arabs who swam to Israel from Aqaba killed a guard at the Interuniversity Institute for Marine Sciences in southern Eilat. On Jan. 29, 2007, a Palestinian suicide terrorist detonated himself inside a bakery in the city, killing three.

Gaza 'Islamization' Continues, Schoolgirls Told 'Cover Up'

Gaza took another step towards strict Islamic law this week with the imposition of new dress codes on schoolgirls. Girls and young women returning to school on Sunday were told that they must wear jilbab, traditional Islamic sleeved robes, and cover their hair, or they would not be allowed to return to class.

Posters hung in Gaza City schools announced that all girls would be required to wear navy blue jilbab, a white headscarf, and white or black shoes. Dozens of students reported being sent home after appearing in school in jeans.

In addition, public high school classes have been separated, with boys and girls learning in different buildings.

According to some Gaza residents, the new rules are being enforced on members the region's small Christian minority as well, despite the fact that Christians are generally considered exempt from following Islamic law. However, the laws have not been enforced within private Christian schools.

Hamas officials denied Monday that they were connected to the new school dress codes. The decision to enforce strict standards of dress was made at the local level, by individual principals, Hamas claimed.

Most girls and their families were in favor of the new dress codes, they added.

Reports of a new school dress code caused anger in Judea and Samaria, where Palestinian Authority loyalists accused Hamas of violating the PA charter, which forbids the enforcement of a public dress code.

Earlier this month, a Gaza judge ordered that all female lawyers cover their hair in court. The decision caused a wave of protest from lawyers and human rights groups in Gaza, Judea and Samaria. Hamas distanced itself from that decision as well, saying the matter was a private issue for the courts to deal with.

Several weeks ago, Hamas was accused of enforcing an informal dress code on women living in Gaza, and of allowing local militias to enforce strict standards of modest dress and behavior. (IsraelNationalNews.com)

Report: PA Forces Turn to Hamas

While Palestinian Authority officials put the focus on winning concessions from Israel, a recent WorldNetDaily report indicates that they may face a greater challenge – a Hamas uprising from within. Support for Hamas is growing within PA ranks, WND said, as it did in Gaza prior to the 2007 Hamas takeover of the region.

Quoting PA sources, WND said several members of Fatah had recently been arrested for helping Hamas to establish an infrastructure in Shechem. Fatah members helped a doctor smuggle roughly $1 million to Hamas for the purpose of buying weapons, the sources said.

Hamas is suspected of rebuilding its terrorist infrastructure in other Judea and Samaria cities as well. Hamas terrorists in Jenin recently managed to obtain hundreds of high-powered assault rifles, PA officials said.

In addition, PA officials suspect that Hamas is infiltrating Fatah by secretly recruiting members, including those in the PA armed forces. Many young members of the forces have received military training from the US, as part of a plan to train the PA to fight terrorist uprisings.

Hamas is believed by many PA analysts to have infiltrated Fatah in Gaza prior to its takeover of Gaza in 2007. The fight for Gaza was relatively swift and bloodless – of the several tens of thousands of armed Hamas and Fatah members in Gaza, slightly more than 100 were killed, and Hamas completed its takeover in under one week. Some analysts believe the Hamas victory was swift because many Fatah fighters stood aside and willingly allowed the Islamic group to seize control.

Hamas has previously threatened to conquer Judea and Samaria, but more recently has made overtures to Fatah and is seeking reunification.

PA Troops Jailed for Terrorism

The WND report came as PA officers were arrested on suspicion of involvement in terrorism. According to PA media, Israeli troops arrested two members of the PA's US-trained forces, one of them a member of the elite Presidential Guard unit.

A third PA officer, Salim Ubayat, was recently convicted and sentenced for terrorist attacks on Israel. Ubayat was convicted of membership in the Al-Aksa Martyrs Brigades, of planning bombing attacks and of carrying out shooting attacks in Judea and Samaria.

Honoring a mass murderer

Ayalon placed Thursday's events in the context of recent Arab riots and incitement directed against Israel. "While Israel continues to extend its hand in peace, the other side not only refuses to come to the negotiating table, but continues to incite recklessly against Israel," Ayalon said. "Israel still seeks peace and calls for negotiations with the Palestinian Authority without preconditions, however, the incitement must end."

The Deputy Foreign Minister noted that the Palestinian Authority recently decided to honor Dalal Mughrabi, the leader of the deadliest-ever terrorist attack in Israel, by naming a square in Ramallah after her.

Ayalon tied between the rocket attacks and the Goldstone Report, which he said “provides legitimacy and propulsion for terrorism” and is immoral and unprofessional. "I call on those who voted for the Goldstone Report to come and see the consequences," he added.

“With or without the report,” he said, “Israel will continue to defend its citizens."

Benefits to family of laborer who was killed

The laborer who was killed Thursday morning by a rocket fired from Gaza is a Thai national, 33. The National Insurance Institute (NII) said it would recognize the man as a victim of terror and his family would be eligible to all of the benefits and payments that Israeli families of terror victims receive by law.

The NII will also cover the cost of flying the victim's body to Thailand and burying him there. Foreign Ministry officials in Bangkok have already notified the family of the deceased man.

Hamas's Hateful Puppet Show

Hamas's Hateful Puppet Show Hamas TV continues to find new ways to teach children to hate with a puppet show in which a young boy learns not to say good things about Jews in fear of looking like a “Zionist collaborator.” The show aired on Al-Aqsa TV on March 11, and was translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

The show depicts two characters, a young boy named Alloush and his uncle Hassan. Alloush is excited, having learned that the Ibrahimi Mosque – the Muslim term for the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hevron – is now open to Jews and Christians.

The show is apparently referring to Israel's recent decision to include the Tomb of the Patriarchs on a list of national heritage sites. The decision will not affect the current division of the space between Muslim and Jewish worshipers.

His uncle, Hassan, rebukes him harshly, saying, “Are you out of your mind, Alloush?... How can you possibly be happy when a mosque – where we would worship Allah and pray to Him night and day – is turned into a synagogue... and the Jews come to defile it?”

Hassan goes on to say that Jews plan to “steal [the mosque] and then make it like their false Temple.”

'Rise up!'

Alloush and other children should tell their parents and grandparents to “rise up against the criminal Zionists, who are planning to destroy Jerusalem,” Hassan orders. “We must rise against the Zionist criminals, the enemies of Allah, and liberate Jerusalem,” he adds.

While Alloush comes to agree with his uncle, Hassan remains concerned. “Did you tell this to anyone else?” he asks the child. When Alloush confirms that he did not, Hassan says, “Very good. You didn't make us look bad.”

If Alloush had publicly expressed enthusiasm over a decision allowing Jews to visit a holy site, “they would accuse you of being a collaborator. They would think that you are a Zionist collaborator,” Hassan warns. “We must think before we speak. Get it?” he adds.
